When our kids were young, the group we met with had other families with young children as well.
We also homeschooled, which may explain why we did what we did.
We tried to have times when the times of discussion were able to integrate the kids. This was not just a case of dumbing things down, but actually finding ways of have age-integrated interaction that young and old got something out of it.

One favorite thing we did was act out bible stories. The kids enjoyed it, and I would have to say that the adults did as well. And we all actually often heard from God thru it.
