Lafayette Christian Assembly

We are striving to model our assembly after the model of the New Testament church. We are family-integrated, meaning everything is done with our kids at our sides in an effort to counteract the negative effects of age-based segregation, youth culture, and family-fragmentation that occurs in the traditional church. We worship together, study together, fellowship together, etc. The leadership is composed of the fathers of the families involved while we are waiting and praying for God to provide biblically qualified elders. We incorporate the four pillars of the assembly: Bible teaching (interactive), breaking of bread (both in the form of communion weekly and sharing a meal together in the context of the assembly), fellowship, and prayer. Our focus is Word-based equipping: equipping the believer to perform the functions of the church (evangelizing, discipling, etc.) throughout the normal course of life. These are not functions relegated to the assembly, but to the believer as a lifestyle. Our worship is family-led. Each family is encouraged to have family worship/devotions throughout the week at home. Then, for Sunday, each family brings Scripture, psalms, poems, whatever, that were of particular value to them that week. The combination of each family’s contributions make up the content of our worship time.
